- Kurt Knisley | Ohio Workers’ Comp & Injury Lawyer | Knisley Law
Kurt Knisley, an Ohio workers' compensation and personal injury attorney, is dedicated to helping injured workers and accident victims get the justice they deserve. Home / Our Team / Kurt Knisley Kurt Knisley ATTORNEY Kurt@knisleylaw.com 614-486-9503 Kurt Knisley About Kurt Kurt Knisley has been practicing law since 2011, after earning his Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School and passing the Ohio Bar. While in law school, Kurt gained invaluable experience through an extended internship with the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office, where he honed his courtroom skills and developed a passion for trial work. Since that time, Kurt has dedicated his career to representing injured workers throughout Ohio. He has appeared in hearings across the state and has built extensive experience in both trial work and appellate advocacy. His appellate practice includes cases before the 10th District Court of Appeals and even the Ohio Supreme Court, giving him a unique perspective on how to fight for clients at every level of the legal system. As a workers’ compensation attorney, Kurt focuses on making sure his clients receive the medical care and compensation they deserve. This includes fighting to secure approval for treatments such as MRIs, therapy, and surgeries, as well as ensuring workers are properly compensated for lost wages and time off the job. He knows how devastating a workplace injury can be for a family, and he approaches each case with honesty, persistence, and genuine care for his clients’ well-being. Kurt’s mission is simple: to help injured workers navigate a complex system and obtain the benefits they are entitled to, so they can focus on recovery and rebuilding their lives. "Workers' compensation can be an overwhelming system to navigate on your own. My job is to cut through that complexity so my clients can focus on what matters most: their recovery." - Ohio Slip and Fall Lawyers | Knisley Law Offices
Injured in a slip and fall in Ohio? Knisley Law Offices' experienced attorneys help hold negligent property owners accountable. Seek fair compensation. Free consultation! SLIP AND FALL It is an unfortunate reality of everyday life that the responsibilities of employment can cause or contribute to a fall in the workplace. If you have sustained an injury as a consequence of such a fall, please see a medical care provider and contact our office for further assistance. It is critical to express to the care provider the exact nature of your employment activity at the time of the fall, while also emphasizing the traumatic impact of the fall and its effect on the various parts of the body injured. The Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and self-insured employers alike will look to limit both the variety and severity of the injuries sustained in a fall. The best way to combat this is by ensuring that the very first provider seen following a work-related fall exhaustively details every symptom, and the corresponding body part, that the claimant is experiencing in the aftermath. Please be advised of your rights in these scenarios. And please feel free to contact our office for any additional information. CALL TODAY FOR A FREE CONSULTATION
- About Knisley Law Offices, Three Generations of Ohio Advocacy Since 1953
A family-owned Ohio law firm fighting for injured workers, the disabled, and the injured since 1953. Meet the three generations of Knisley attorneys serving Columbus, Chillicothe, Lima, and Newark. Home / About About Knisley Law Offices Family-Owned, Family-Focused. Serving Injured Workers and Disabled Ohioans Since 1953. Call For Free Consultation Who We Are Knisley Law Offices is a third-generation, family-owned Ohio law firm that has represented injured workers, disabled Ohioans, and personal injury clients since 1953. In Brief Founded in 1953 by Scott Knisley in Columbus, Ohio, Knisley Law Offices is now run by his sons and grandsons. The firm handles Workers' Compensation, personal injury, and Social Security Disability cases from four offices across Ohio. For over seventy years, our family has stood beside the working people of Ohio. We were founded on a simple belief that still guides every case we take: every worker deserves someone in their corner who will fight for the benefits and treatment they've earned. Today, five Knisley attorneys, across two generations of the same family, handle Ohio Workers' Compensation , Social Security Disability , and personal injury cases from four offices in Columbus, Chillicothe, Lima, and Newark. Combined, we bring more than one hundred years of experience to the people who need us most: workers hurt on the job, Ohioans who can no longer work, and families trying to make sense of a system that wasn't built for them. We are not a marketing firm with a legal department. We are a law firm (a small one, by design) that has spent three generations learning the Ohio Workers' Comp and disability systems from the inside. When you call us, you talk to a Knisley. Our family has spent three generations fighting for Ohio's injured workers. When someone is hurt on the job or can no longer work, they don't just need a lawyer; they need a firm that will treat them like family and fight like it. The Knisley Family Three Generations of Advocacy In Brief Scott Knisley founded the firm in 1953 in the LeVeque Tower, sharing space with his father Clarence Hugh Knisley, a former Ohio State Treasurer. His four sons (Doug, Dan, Dean, and Dave) and his grandsons Kurt and Dylan have carried the firm forward for over seventy years. Our story begins in downtown Columbus, where a young attorney named Scott Knisley opened a Workers' Compensation practice in the LeVeque Tower. He shared office space with his father, Clarence Hugh Knisley, a former Ohio State Treasurer who served on the Ohio Industrial Commission from 1939 to 1941. Scott's focus was the same one that anchors our firm today: representing the working people of Ohio when an injury, disability, or accident took away their ability to earn. The firm has grown across three generations, but its purpose has not changed. 1953 A firm begins. Scott Knisley founds Knisley Law Offices in Columbus, Ohio, sharing office space in the LeVeque Tower with his father, Clarence Hugh Knisley. 1982–86 The next generation. Doug, Dan, and Dean Knisley, Scott's sons, are admitted to the Ohio bar and join the practice. Together with their brother Dave, they become known around the firm as "the 4Ds." Putting down roots. 1980 Scott opens the firm's Dublin Road office, which becomes the firm's home for the next thirty-two years. The third generation. 2011–15 Kurt and Dylan Knisley, Scott's grandsons, join the firm after earning their law degrees from Capital University. The firm's third generation begins. 2012 A new Columbus home. The firm relocates to 1111 Dublin Road, its current Columbus headquarters, closer to the Ohio Industrial Commission and the workers we serve. What We Stand For A law firm's values are not what it puts on a wall. They are what it does when no one is watching: how it treats a client on the worst day of their life. Here is what we stand for, and what you can expect from us. Empathy First We listen before we argue. Most of our clients are hurt, scared, and facing a system they did not choose to enter. We meet you where you are. Plain English, Always No legalese. We explain every decision, every option, and every risk in language that respects your time and your intelligence. If we wouldn't say it to our own family, we won't say it to you. Tenacity When It Counts We know the Ohio Workers' Compensation and disability systems inside and out. We don't back down from insurance companies, employers, or bureaucracy when our clients need us to push. Family Before Clients We are a family firm, and we treat every person who walks through our door as someone we'd want looked after if they were ours. Rooted in Our Communities We were born in Ohio, we live in Ohio, and we serve Ohio. Three of our attorneys were raised in Columbus. Our offices are in Columbus, Chillicothe, Lima, and Newark, not in another state with a billboard. We coach our kids in Upper Arlington. We participate and volunteer in the same neighborhoods where our clients live. Service in Uniform Dan Knisley served in the United States Marine Corps from 1976 to 1982. He earned his fighter pilot wings in 1978 and flew F-4 Phantoms with VMFA-333. After active duty, he continued his service with the Ohio Air National Guard at Rickenbacker Air Force Base. Coaching the Next Generation Doug Knisley has spent years coaching youth sports in Upper Arlington and volunteering at Upper Arlington High School. The same patience and steadiness he brings to a sideline, he brings to our clients. Showing Up Locally Across our four offices, our attorneys belong to local bar associations, support community fundraisers, and stay involved with the working communities we represent. If you live near one of our offices, there's a good chance you've met one of us at a high school game or charity event. What Sets Knisley Apart There are good Ohio law firms, and there are reasons we believe ours is worth your call. Here are four of them. Years. Three Generations. 73 Knisley attorneys have represented injured Ohioans since 1953. Most firms in our field are a decade or two old, we measure our commitment in generations. Practice Areas 3 Workers' comp, personal injury, and Social Security Disability, because a workplace injury rarely stays in one legal lane. Ohio Offices, 5 Attorneys 4 All five Knisley attorneys take cases from every one of our four offices in Columbus, Chillicothe, Lima, and Newark. Unless You Win $0 Our clients pay nothing upfront. Possible work-related illness from toxic exposure? Ohio occupational disease claims are time sensitive. Get medical help and legal guidance immediately. Occupational Disease If you have been possibly exposed to toxic substances in the workplace, and have received a diagnosis from a medical care provider, please look into filing a workers’ compensation claim. Occupational disease claims are time-sensitive and heavily dependent upon the precise circumstances of your exposure and date of diagnosis. To determine if you potentially qualify for workers’ compensation benefits on account of your diagnosis, please consult our office immediately. Occupational diseases can be permanently debilitating, and can effectively prohibit you from fulfilling your work duties and maintaining the quality of life you enjoyed prior to exposure. They can also lie dormant for a number of years before you eventually experience symptoms. It is critical that you contact a care provider and an attorney alike if you believe the symptoms you are experiencing could be due to a previous work exposure. You should not have to bear the burden of the cost of treatment, nor should you expect to go without payment in the event the disease prohibits you from working. Seventy-three years later, his sons (Doug, Dan, and Dean) and his grandsons (Dylan and Kurt) continue that work from the same city. Still family-owned. Still focused on the same people. We focus primarily on workers' compensation because it's the work our firm was built for. When someone is hurt on the job and fighting to get their medical bills covered or their wages replaced, they deserve an attorney who knows the Ohio BWC system inside and out, and who will pick up the phone when they call. We represent clients across Franklin County and central Ohio from our Dublin Road office. Many of our clients are injured workers who can't easily travel. We come to them when they can't come to us. Clients are never case numbers here. They are neighbors, and we treat them like family. Learn more about our firm's story → Visit Our Columbus Office Visit Us 1111 Dublin Rd.
