PRE EXISTING CONDITIONS
Pre-existing injuries are generally considered “non-compensable” under workers’ compensation laws. This means that claims for medical bills or compensation related to a pre-existing condition are often denied. However, it is still possible to receive benefits if a work-related incident causes a significant aggravation of your pre-existing condition.

To establish a compensable claim, your medical provider must determine that your work accident substantially worsened your pre-existing condition. The success of this claim depends on several factors: the severity of the workplace accident, the promptness and accuracy of injury documentation by your employer and healthcare provider, and most critically, your provider's ability to present clear evidence of substantial aggravation. Diagnostic testing or clinical exam findings that show changes or distinctions from previously documented conditions can significantly strengthen your case.

If you believe your work-related injury has exacerbated a pre-existing condition, don’t hesitate to file a workers’ compensation claim. Consult your healthcare provider as soon as possible to assess the validity of your claim.
